Hello J3133! Thanks for taking a look at this. It seems you are right that "murderess" is still in use and thus not obsolete. However, it appears that modern uses (such as the one you cited) tend to be purposefully anachronistic, for example, to reference murders that occurred in Victorian or Antebellum times.[1][2][3] Perhaps the more appropriate label would be "dated". Collins Dictionary lists "murderess" as "old-fashioned",[4] which seems to be equivalent to our "dated". Let me know if that sounds appropriate. Nosferattus (talk) 18:45, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Nosferattus: I undid the addition of “obsolete” in December, with the edit summary “OED has recent quotations”. “Dated” seems appropriate. J3133 (talk) 19:53, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
