Currently wondering where and cause of term - Nut case or nut job. Is it related to eating nuts of a certain kind that might cause health or neuro problems in some. Havnt been able to find where term orginated and why.

From "nut" (a crazy person, first attested 1908) + "case" (popularization of a medical term). That came from "nuts" (crazy, first attested 1846).
