Talk:overexaggerate

While many may not like the word overexaggerate, it does exist. See a list of over- here on Merriam-Webster. I took out the editorial comment on the etym. It would better belong here if one feels it is needed.

You've changed the whole definition though. It was simply a mistake for "exaggerate"; you've changed it to "exaggerate excessively", but all exaggeration is excessive. I disagree with your change. Anyone else? Equinox ◑ 12:18, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

You can exaggerate just slightly or very much, however. So it would have to be seen from actual usage whether the form is chiefly restricted to the latter sense. There are a lot of google hits for "overexaggerated a bit", which speaks against a restriction. Nevertheless some speakers may make such a distinction. 90.186.170.69 15:55, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
