Spanish translation[edit]

First: I do not deny an agenda. It seems clear to me that "phonics" is actually a topic in education, relating to the elementary teaching of English reading to native speakers. That is why there are essentially no equivalent "translations" in other languages. The translation given for Spanish is fónicos/fónicas, but this is a grammatical misundertanding. The source for fónico says: "Perteneciente o relativo a la voz o al sonido." (relating to the voice or to sound [my translation]; from Real Academia Española); it is an adjective, where the original "phonics" is a noun. Spanish adjectives agree in number and gender, so the terms given are the Spanish plural forms of the adjective, which do not correspond to the English noun. Swedish translation[edit]

The entry 'ljudning' seems dubious. There is no wikt: entry; there is a Swedish WP entry, a stub of one sentence. The source given does not appear to include the word 'ljudning'. The Swedish Academy website (Svenska Akademien ordlista) says "nothing found for 'ljudning'. Unfortunately my Swedish is even weaker than my Spanish, but it seems clear that 'ljud' is the stem meaning "sound", and the rest is totally unreliable.
