Not in OED or EEBO. Hazarasp (parlement · werkis) 02:37, 14 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I found two cites, but have not managed to find a third. Mostly I find footnotes and exclamation marks. Kiwima (talk) 05:21, 14 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I found a third, but out of our cites, two of them are Scottish. Might this be Scots rather than English? — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 20:53, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, the Salmond cite looks like Scots (although perhaps context would clarify). The Gibbon cite is probably (Scottish) English. (For the American Jewish History cite one considers the possibility that the suffix derives from Yiddish -l rather than French, but that is a secondary matter.) - -sche (discuss) 20:07, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

RFV-failed, converted to Scots. Kiwima (talk) 21:41, 29 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
