- I suppose we'll be needing entries for rate ceiling, rate floor, wage ceiling, wage floor, earnings floor, bonus floor, bonus ceiling, bonus floor, commission floor, commission ceiling, all attestable . Apparently, there are some who are unfamiliar with the appropriate definitions and applicability of floor and ceiling. I didn't check to see whether we have the relevant definitions, but I'd be surprised if some of the OneLook dictionaries didn't. I'd bet on them being in the better ones. - Which of the 13 noun definitions of floor do you think is so obvious. I've been speaking English for 50 years but I can assure you there is nothing obvious about this. - Oh, come on. You know that you can't rely on the completeness of our entries. The best thing about SoP entries, provided they get to the RfD process, is that they surface at least some of the gaps in our coverage of common terms. MWOnline has "a lower limit: base", which covers it.
- In this case the absurdly over-specific "finance" definition would be the basis for filling in the gap, that definition being a particular application of a definition like MWOnline's. DCDuring TALK 11:17, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
