The translations need to be checked!
In Dutch we use another word for something owned (Dutch: eigendom) and abstract quality (Dutch: eigenschap, also used for a computer parameter). I suppose these distinctions also apply for other (Germanic) languages.

possibly problematic definition nr 5[edit]
Why does definition nr 5 refer only to land? I think "property" can also refer to "a piece of real estate".80.235.68.121 16:04, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Propreté ?[edit]
Are you sure about "property" coming from "propreté" ? Because the traduction of "property" would be "Propriété".
"Propreté" means "cleanness" (is "cleanliness" more correct ? Just asking).
- If you take a closer look, you'll note that "propreté" is presented as Middle French word. The modern form "propriété" is also mentioned. At least www.dictionary.com shows the same spelling of the Middle French word as we do. --Hekaheka 20:46, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
