“I moved the entry to 'puit' because it is the only singular form I found about this noun, and The Century Dictionary suggests that the word is pronounced /pju:t/ in singular. I didn't find more information about it.” —2A01:CB11:58D:2E00:25BD:84DB:E5C1:2B48 (Special:Diff/62750001)

(obsolete) A well; a small stream; a fountain; a spring”, from French puits (well); is this unattested (in the singular), as was claimed and moved? J3133 (talk) 06:45, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Kiwima: You misunderstood, I meant puits (in the singular (plural “puits”), not as the plural of puit; from French puits (well)), not puit; i.e., this entry that was moved to puit because it was claimed puits (singular; plural “puits”) is unattested. J3133 (talk) 01:33, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah. OK. Most of what I found for "puits" used in the singular looks like code-switching (italics or scare quotes). I did add two cites I found to the citations page that just use it without such markers. Kiwima (talk) 21:46, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
