"rap" here means....[edit]

I notice http://csaj.org/document-library/EmptRightsForSurvivorsWithCriminalRecords.pdf, when talking of a rap sheet, uses the acronym: Record of Arrests and Prosecutions - I think this is a backronym for rap - but I'm not 100% sure - that the "rap" in rap sheet comes from the common meaning of rap that means blame for something, and possibly itself with the origin in the likes of "I got a rap [with something like a ruler, back in the days when they were allowed to do so] from the teacher for sticking chewing gum under my desk". I haven't yet seen an authoratitive etymology for "rap" used in this situation. Maitchy (talk) 21:52, 15 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
