Etymology[edit]

Should the English term be derived from vec and not it? It says "Venetian dialect". I suppose this could refer to regional Italian rather than dialetto stretto, and it could have easily been borrowed via Tuscan, which has been the written lingua franca since c. Petrarch and Dante.
