Just sayin'...[edit]

I know Boris has beclowned himself once too often at this point and Trump was just awful... but the current def isn't remotely accurate, impartial, or sourceable. Even highly activist dictionaries like MW hew a little closer to Burke than the Noam Chomsky/Young Turks "they're all fascists who want you back in chains" take on display here. The OED is certainly more evenly keeled.

Further, at present in the US, the Republicans are certainly talking out of both sides of their mouth but they're explicitly for nonracial political and social equality under the law and with regard to opportunity; it's the left that is explicitly against equality under the law and w/r/t opportunity at present. The moved goalpost even changed the term they prefer: equity rather than equality.

That all said, @SemperBlotto, no one wants an edit war on politics here. Is there a place where you guys already came to a concensus about the political tone here? — LlywelynII 12:35, 4 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@LlywelynII What would you propose as an alternative? 98.170.164.88 18:28, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
(US, Canada, and UK) pretty much covers the Anglosphere given the rest are covered by "UK" here. Why not just remove almost everything but the etymology and simply give {{synonym of}} conservative?
Right now the political sense is nonsensically forked to political conservative (SOP), but still better to have all the arguing and nitpicking in one place. — LlywelynII 10:41, 21 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
