Noun for a royal person[edit]

Interestingly Chambers 1908 has the sense "a royal person, a king" but marks it obsolete. So I assume that the modern casual sense where we talk about "the royals" flying abroad etc. is something that arose separately later. Equinox 21:22, 5 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

US government security classification[edit]

Apparently "royal" superseded "top secret" in September 1980. Might be too much of a code-word to be considered a part of real sentences of English. Finding usage isn't easy. Equinox 03:05, 19 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
