Finnish: sammi

Supposed to be a dialectal form of sammio (vat). Seems unattestable to me. --Hekaheka (talk) 23:21, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

SKVR VII1 679 seems to have one use, assuming inflection sammi ~ sammen. Another source says it's sammi ~ sammin, but finding uses for either is somewhat challengine as sampi (sturgeon) also has these dialectal variants. — surjection??05:46, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Another one: SKVR I1 97. — surjection??05:51, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would call this cited. Having three cites from SKVR is fine, as it is a collection of oral poetry and thus the cites are independent. — surjection??10:55, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
On second thought, it seems the quotes are more citing sammi as an alt form of sampo and not as that of sammio. At least the former should then be kept. — surjection??11:48, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Then one may ask, which language the examples are, Finnish or Karelian. They were regarded as Finnish at the time of their collection but would they still? Perhaps the word should be labeled as "archaic" as well, in case we end up keeping it as Finnish entry. --Hekaheka (talk) 18:06, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
The second and third quote are Finnish, the first is less clear and that could be Karelian too. I'm not against an archaic label, though. — surjection??18:26, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
