Scano[edit]
Can "scano" be considered a variant spelling on "scanno"? I personally have used it over the years, as have some others, though apparently not extensively. E.g.: in a book chapter by Ivan Sutherland (2010); on Wikisource,; in comments on a page on SourceForge; in comments on a page on Amazon; and so on.--A12n (talk) 00:07, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Etymology[edit]
Is the form scanno more properly from "scanning error" in the same way typo is from "typographical error" - hence the doubled "n"? Whereas scano is actually the one beginning with "scan" and modeling the new term on "typo" ("scan + -o" per the currently indicated etymology for scanno)? Not a big deal, but having only ever used the form with one "n," I was wondering how the "nn" version arose. --A12n (talk) 14:33, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
