Are folks certain of the comparatives? In general, if a word has more than two syllables, it would not receive the suffix of IER or IEST. As Slovenly has 3 syllables, it is more likely that it would have the comparative forms of "More slovenly" and "Most slovenly".

There's a fair amount of usage of slovenlier, slovenliest if you search in Google Books. They definitely exist, but it's possible that more/most are commoner. Equinox 00:27, 24 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
