Past participle: "status/statum"?[edit]
Under the "Latin" section, statum is now given as the past participle. I think this should be status (same form as on sisto), as statum is only the neuter or accusative form. (See as well the corresponding pages on la.wiktionary.) De Wikischim (talk) 17:13, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
stoic[edit]
Looking at the Latin derived terms makes me curious in regard to the (possible) English derivation. Wouldn't "stoic" fit there? Paine Ellsworth put'r there 19:53, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
- No. English stoic comes from Ancient Greek Στωϊκός (Stōïkós) by way of Latin stoicus. The Ancient Greek word originally referred to a specific στοά (stoá) where the stoic philosophers gathered. Chuck Entz (talk) 20:13, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
