Etymology[edit]

  • 1879, “Strawberry leaves”, in Notes and Queries (5th), volume 75, page 129:
    these leaves, which in early coronets are very unlike a strawberry leaf, did not receive their modern name till a much later epoch, and the reason of their being so named is unknown to us.
