• Keep both - I don't think "the qualities of a set phrase" matter here. I have added usage notes to town council, and also note that where the British government have abolished county councils and replaced them with unitary authorities, the term "county council" has often been dropped and replaced by just "council". It is true that parts of the UK have these things, but they are still just the council of a county or town. I would delete it. We may also have a "town mayor" etc. Also, seriously, Donnanz, your support has become a very strong sign for something that should be deleted. You may want to consider that. I already have. A town council is a parish council that has declared itself to be a town council, and also can have a mayor, unlike a parish council. Yet both parish and town councils serve/represent a civil parish (or community in Wales). What's in a name? DonnanZ (talk) 09:45, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

• Keep both, but I would recommend the defns. be simplified to something like "a city council for a town". County council says "This term has slightly different meanings in different countries." Also Equinox, I think you're being a bit hard on Donnanz. Yes it appears Donnanz appears to vote "Keep" more often than most, but his vote still counts and not for the opposite.   Equinox isn't saying at all that Donnanz's vote should be discounted or reversed, just that his keep votes serve as indicators of entries or senses that ought to be deleted. ←₰-→ Lingo ^Bingo _Dingo (talk) 12:46, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

  Oh, sorry I didn't mean to imply that Equinox was implying that. Just that a Donnanz "keep" vote shouldn't really be an indicator for an editor to vote "delete". I'm sure there was some tongue in cheek in some of these comments. Cheers, Facts707 (talk) 16:23, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
