I keep seeing "tron" cropping up in crosswords clued as "market", but never seen it in a dictionary. Does anyone have any info on this? --Matt Westwood (talk) 05:25, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's related to the "trone / weighing-machine" sense that we have here. Chambers has it: "a public weighing-machine, used also as a place of punishment; the market-place; a system of weights used at the tron." Equinox 14:39, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Why is "tron" marked as an obsolete form of "trone"? I'm pretty sure it's the latter which is antiquated. See http://www.dsl.ac.uk/entry/snd/tron
