Talk:wassen

There are three conjugations:
to wash:
- This verb is mixed rather than weak. It used to be strong: wassen -wies -gewassen but the strong wies form went extinct and was replaced by a weak waste. The past participle remains strong: gewassen.
to wax, grow:
- the verb is a regular strong class 7: wassen - wies - gewassen, although through confusion with 'to wash' it in not used an awful lot
to wax, to put wax on smthng
- the verb is regular weak: wassen - waste - gewast. Again to avoid confusion, often speakers resot to paraphrase: ski's in de was zetten rather than ski's wassen.

- I've added the page to our Category:Requests (Dutch) for someone who deals with Dutch entries to have a look at it. Thanks for the note. Mike Dillon 07:00, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
