Is this unit used anywhere? I can't find any uses. -- Prince Kassad 06:23, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

These are components of the International System of Units, the official nomenclature of units (and their abbreviations) that has been adopted by the entire world, save the U.S. and a handful of fairly small countries. It seems absurd to me that we would not report on words and symbols for which the entire world had agreed on a meaning, especially since the inclusion of those that are used would leave a patchwork grid full of holes if we exclude the ones that we know to exist, but for which citations can not be found. bd2412 T 15:41, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
That would be a Beer Parlor matter. We don't actually make any special exception in WT:CFI for such terms. Other examples are taxonomic names, chemical names, which we include and don't challenge as a matter of practice. But this practice is sanctioned only by a consensus. The consensus of accepting international standards bodies decisions was brought into question in the area of ISO codes, though not in the area of inclusion as a headword. Perhaps the CFI relevance of international standards bodies is worth a discussion there.
Otherwise I would think that RfV applies. DCDuring TALK 16:41, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Failed RFV. Was discussed at Wiktionary:Beer parlour archive/2009/September#SI units and abbreviations. —RuakhTALK 18:55, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

In light of the broad list of entries to which this objection applies, I have initiated a vote to exempt the entire class from the CFI at Wiktionary:Votes/2009-12/Proposed CFI exception for SI Units. Cheers! bd2412 T 20:55, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
