French pronunciation[edit]

Where does the French pronunciation come from? I have not been able to find the word, let alone pronunciation, in any French dictionary. —This unsigned comment was added by 213.225.10.10 (talk) at 23:39, 23 December 2019‎.

For what is worth, the IPA here matches the audio for the French entry in https://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/zugzwang . I wouldn't be surprised if other speakers pronounced it differently, though, especially non-chess-players. Rcaetano (talk) 08:45, 29 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Second entry for capitalized version?[edit]

From a search I arrived at Zugzwang, and I'm wondering if that page ought to be merged into this one? I can't tell from the contents here and there, and the policy at Wiktionary:Capitalization, and the Enwiki article w:en:Zugzwang, whether the Enwikt entries should be separate or not. Hence asking here. Quiddity (talk) 20:53, 14 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

No, Wiktionary is case-sensitive and such entries are not merged, as the policy you link to notes in its first sentence. (In German, all standard nouns are capitalized.) - -sche (discuss) 22:48, 14 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Rfv-sense

I am struggling with the non-chess sense of this term in English. John Cross (talk) 08:30, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
