Usage[edit]

This template can be used in the "References" section of an entry to provide a citation to the A-I portion of the Dictionary of Old English (DOE), the part that has been completed and published online. As the DOE requires a subscription, readers will not be able to access any link generated by the template unless they have a subscription and are logged into the website.

Parameters[edit]

The template takes the following parameters:

  • |1=, |entry=, or |title= – the entry (headword or lemma) cited. If this parameter is omitted, the template uses the Wiktionary page name.
  • |2=, |id=, or |code= – to create a link, log into the website, look up the entry, copy the address linked through the headword and use the number appearing at the end of the URL in the template. For example, if the URL is https://tapor.library.utoronto.ca/doe/?E01887, then specify |id=E01887 in the template.
  • |3=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage cited from the source.
  • |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.
