Prepositions

[edit]

Are the prepositions in locative and instrumental really necessary? They give kind of amateurish impression.. --Ivan Štambuk 13:22, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Don't know, but maybe would be instead template enough just Appendix, like Appendix:Slovak declension pattern žena!?--Andrejj 17:14, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's better to show the declension of every word, because some have irregular forms, and it's just easier that way. But an appendix would be great, too.
I see no reason not to remove the prepositions, if they're seen as unneeded. Out they go! — [ ric ] opiaterein00:12, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it would be great to make an appendix for every declension pattern, explaining it's common usage and gazillion exceptions! That Slovak appendices are really not the way things are done here - every noun is supposed (per WT:ELE) have ====Declension==== section in which full paradigm is supposed to be shown.. That dude that made that Slovak appendix also made a bunch of entries that link to it directly inside inflection line, saying "this is the stem, for the declension paradigm see Appendix:tralala" :D Take a look at, e.g. metla - doesn't look very nice :/ --Ivan Štambuk 00:19, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I can make a few declension templates for Slovak based on those appendices we have, but I don't know anything about Slovak, really, so that's all I can do is make those templates I can, and put them in where I can, but someone else is going to have to pick up from there. — [ ric ] opiaterein01:08, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Preposition s/z (with)

[edit]

Preposition can be different: "z vlakom" but "s stolom"; preposition s/z could be another parameter, see for an example sl:Predloga:sklanjatev2z. --Andrejj 16:12, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's a good idea. If I have time, I can try to work it out, if you tell me all the possible prepositions. — [ ric ] opiaterein20:35, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Left vs. Center

[edit]

Left it looks nice too. IMHO it is also easier to see suffix of the word, which is crucial at declension. --Andrejj 16:12, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Andrej, it's pretty standard here to set the alignment to "center" in various inflection tables. It's true that it's easer to see the case endings with left alignment. Unfortunately, the appearance of these declension tables is generally language-dependent; hopefully some time in the future it would be regulated via CSS, so you could have set up e.g. alignment, colour, foldability or fonts for all the declension tables of all languages. Up until then, I suggest we stick to the common practice ;) --Ivan Štambuk 17:36, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
