• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.

• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.

Shughni entries

Hi Akhaeron, thanks for the Shughni entries. What dictionary are you using? Also note that the Shughni translit module automatically adds transliterations, so you don't need to fill the |tr= parameter. --{{victar|talk}} 17:16, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Hello! I'm using https://pamiri.online/dict, which is an online dictionary made by Russian researchers. For etymologies, I'm using the Etymological Vocabulary of the Shughni Group by Georg Morgenstierne. Oh and I have once concern with the transliterations, everything seems fine to me, but I'm confused as to why у̊ = ū̊ in the transliteration. In pretty much every source and dictionary I've seen, it's universally ů and not ū̊, the one time I believe I saw ū̊ was with Rushani and not in Shughni. However, I haven't read any of these dated Russian languages books on Shughni, so I'm speaking from what I have seen online. Regardless, I think it would be a good idea to make у̊ = ů in the transliteration policy, but I don't know who can make that change happen. Akhaeron (talk) 17:22, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Morgenstierne's dictionary is quite outdated and many dictionaries today prefer ū̊ over ů (cf. Edelman, Karamshoev, etc.). The gold standard today in Shughni dictionaries is Karamšojev's Šugnansko-russkij slovarʹ, so if you can get a copy, this would be the better source for entries. --{{victar|talk}} 17:32, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Ok thank you, I will try to find a copy. Also I don't know if your or other Shughni edits knew about the pamiri.online dictionary but it's a very useful resource and it's new as well. Akhaeron (talk) 17:35, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Do not forget to add references to the entries! Readers cannot be expected to read your mind, and showing them where you got the information from makes our dictionary much more reliable. I do recommend [originally] paper sources, as those are more stable. Thadh (talk) 23:09, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Master of none

I've noticed you've been creating entries for many languages with no specific focus. I would recommend that you instead try and limit your edits to a more narrow scope of interest, allowing for quality over variety. Also, if you wouldn't mind, please add a {{Babel}} userbox to your user page so that we might know what languages you speak. --{{victar|talk}} 00:01, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
