Wytrykus[edit]

I think you want the page wytrykus with a small w. Upper and lower case make a big difference here. A small-s smith is a metal-worker, but big-s Smith is a name. Equinox 17:57, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey Equinox, there is no lower case 'wytrykus' page, should I create one? Then for the Wytrykus last name page say something like "(countable) An Polish surname originating as an occupation for a wytrykus (archaic version of a secton)." ? ChuckDabs (talk) 18:16, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
sexton* ChuckDabs (talk) 18:16, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
This is also my last name and I have done tons and tons of research from verified sources to find this, can you help me to avoid Wiktionary lemma and syntax errors? ChuckDabs (talk) 18:18, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@ChuckDabs: Yes, if that's a common noun in Polish, please create it by clicking the red link above. I don't speak Polish. Equinox 18:18, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
It is a very archaic and uncommon noun, yet if we have the last name page, how do we not have the origin? It's not some linguistic isolate. ChuckDabs (talk) 18:19, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
"Common noun" means rzeczownik pospolity. It doesn't mean "common" like "frequently used". Equinox 18:23, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ahh yes, it is indeed a common noun/rzeczownik pospolity, not a proper noun. Does this look up to HTML standards here?

Our quotes do not work like Wikipedia's. Please see Wiktionary:Wiktionary for Wikipedians. Vininn126 (talk) 19:01, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry! Thank you for that reference sorry if I seemed hostile earlier, I just really needed some help, if you think https://nazwiska.ijp.pan.pl/ is a good enough resource and you don't want to include that, that's ok. But the definition is true, Wytrykus means sexton. ChuckDabs (talk) 19:04, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
You seem new and well-intentioned, I'll explain what's going on.
Quotations are used to prove that a word exist, per our WT:CFI. In short, if a term has three uses in running text (namely books, magazines, newspapers...), it is addable. References are used to make certain claims, such as etymologies and such. Vininn126 (talk) 19:06, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
How do I add a reference in the way you did:

We already have the last one, and from these only the first one looks like something we could maybe add. Vininn126 (talk) 19:20, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
The first one is a scholar article made by a professor from the University of Warsaw, connecting Wytrykus/Wytrykowski/Wytrychowski/Wytrych/Wytrykowska from the 1600s/1700s to the Strzemieczny family of Northern Mazovia, minor Szlatcha entitled to the Prus II Herbu. I have added it. Vininn126 (talk) 19:27, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nice! dziękuję! ChuckDabs (talk) 19:35, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
How do I add something like Wytrykowski (male) and Wytrykowska (female) in the declination section for a new article on the derived last name 'Wytrykowski'? Link:(https://nazwiska.ijp.pan.pl/haslo/show/id/27724) ChuckDabs (talk) 19:38, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
