Named after the Japanese mathematician Nobuo Yoneda (1930–1996).

Yoneda embedding (plural Yoneda embeddings)

  1. (category theory) An embedding of a category within the category of functors from to the category of sets. Such an embedding is effected by a Yoneda functor.
