From Old Irish oblóirecht f (jugglery), from oblóir, ablóir, oblaire m (juggler, rhymester; the tenth or lowest class of poet). By surface analysis, abhlóir (buffoon, fool; boor; confused, bewildered, person) +‎ -acht.
