From Latin acatalēpticus, from Ancient Greek ἀκατάληπτος (akatálēptos, “incomprehensible”), from ἀ- (a-, “not”) + καταλαμβάνω (katalambánō, “I seize”), from κατά (katá, “against”) + λαμβάνω (lambánō, “I take”).
