Etymology[edit]

Uncertain. Perhaps from Ancient Greek *ἀγαγᾶς (*agagâs), from reduplicated present of ἄγω (ágō, lead) (compare ἀγωγός (agōgós, leading)), possibly via Etruscan *𐌀𐌂𐌀𐌂𐌀 (*acaca).[1]
