Tocharian B[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Tocharian *āikäre (whence also Tocharian A ekär), of uncertain further origin. Possibly from the intensive prefix *e(n)- + *iäkre, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₁eg- (“to lack”). If so, from the same source as yäk- (“to neglect”) and Latin egeo, etc.
