Welsh[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From an- (“not, un-”) + tebyg (“alike, similar”).
Pronunciation[edit]
- (North Wales) IPA(key): /anˈhɛbɪɡ/, /anˈhɛbɨ̞ɡ/
- (South Wales) IPA(key): /anˈheːbɪɡ/, /anˈhɛbɪɡ/
- Despite being written with a "y", the vowel here is generally pronounced /ɪ/ in the north as tends to be the case when "y" precedes "g".
Adjective[edit]
annhebyg (feminine singular annhebyg, plural annhebyg, equative annhebyced, comparative annhebycach, superlative annhebycaf)
Derived terms[edit]
- annhebygrwydd (“dissimilarity, unlikeness, difference”)
Related terms[edit]
- annhebygol (“unlikely, improbable”)
