1839, as anthropo- (“human”) +‎ -metry (“measurement”), from French anthropométrie, from anthropo- + -métrie, from Ancient Greek ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, “human”) + μέτρον (métron, “measure”), influenced by Latin use.[1][2]
