1839, as anthropo- (human) +‎ -metry (measurement), from French anthropométrie, from anthropo- + -métrie, from Ancient Greek ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, human) + μέτρον (métron, measure), influenced by Latin use.[1][2]
