From Old Galician-Portuguese, from Vulgar Latin *appariclāre < *appariculāre, present active infinitive of *appariculō, itself probably from Latin apparō. Compare Portuguese aparelhar, Spanish aparejar, French appareiller, Italian apparecchiare.
