Etymology[edit]
From Ancient Greek ἀρχιδιδάσκαλος (arkhididáskalos, “chief teacher”), first used by Palladius of Galatia (5th century CE), from ἀρχι- (arkhi-, “chief, arch-”) + διδάσκαλος (didáskalos, “teacher”).
