Aromanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From a Vulgar Latin root *astectō, from Latin adspectō, variant of aspectō. Compare Romanian aștepta, aștept. The second sense of receiving guests may indicate the influence of expectō, or it may be the natural evolution of the word, as in expecting or waiting for guests.

Verb[edit]

ashtept first-singular present indicative (past participle ashtãptate)

  1. Alternative form of ashteptu
