From -tsá (noun stem meaning grasp with teeth or beak), from the root -TSAʼ (“to grasp with teeth”), from Proto-Athabaskan *tsαɢ, from Pre-Proto-Athabaskan *tsəɢ (“act with teeth by biting”); compare the verb yiyiitsah (“he grasps it with teeth or beak”).
