Blend of austenite +‎ temper.

austemper (third-person singular simple present austempers, present participle austempering, simple past and past participle austempered)

  1. (transitive) To harden (a metal) and produce a stronger microstructure by heating it into the austenite region and then immediately quenching and removing any bainite and ausferrite.
