Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Norwegian Bokmål avslutte, from Danish afslutte, a compound word of af (“off”) and slutte (“close, conclude, finish”), probably a loan-translation from Middle Low German (compare German abschließen). Compare to Swedish avsluta.
