Macanese[edit]
Macanese phrasebook
This entry is part of the phrasebook project, which presents criteria for inclusion based on utility, simplicity and commonness. |
Alternative forms[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Probably from Portuguese boa noite rather than derived naturally in Macanese, since *bô is not used in regular Macanese speech.
Interjection[edit]
Usage notes[edit]
- In written Macanese, the hyphen is very commonly used between the two words in "good"-type phrases and interjections.
- Despite the literal translation of the phrase, it does not mean "good night"; that is expressed using bôm-sôno.
