From Malay berbaur, from Classical Malay berbaur. Equivalent to ber- + baur.

berbaur
- (intransitive) to commingle (to become mixed or blended)
- (intransitive, of people) to integrate (to desegregate, as a school or neighborhood)
- (intransitive, of people) to mix, to mingle (to associate with others socially)
- (intransitive, chemistry) to dissolve (to be disintegrated chemically into a solution by immersion into a liquid or gas)
