Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Celtic *beru, *bẹrŭro- (“spring, well”), said by Matasović to likely be related to *brutus (“fermentation, boiling heat”), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰrewh₁-. Cognate with Gaulish berula, Irish biolar.[1]
