Albanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *mlē(n-), from Proto-Indo-European *melh₁- (to crush, grind). Cognate to Old Church Slavonic млѣти (mlěti, to grind).[1] Alternatively, according to Orel, from Latin molere (to grind), with the same buccalization of m before l as seen in bletë from melitta,[2] though note that others such as Demiraj derive bletë from Proto-Albanian, with the same shift of m to b before l nonetheless. In any case, see Proto-Indo-European *melh₂-.

Verb[edit]

bluaj (aorist blova, participle bluar)

  1. to grind
