brain + dance, from its relatively complex (i.e. intellectual) structure and use of elements of dance music. Coined by the label Rephlex Records.

Usage notes[edit]
Some people favour the term braindance over intelligent dance music because it avoids the snobbish implication that other forms of music are unintelligent.
