Borrowed from Semitic; compare Hebrew בָּרֶקֶת (bāréqet) and Akkadian [Term?] (/barraqtu/), as well as other loanwords from Semitic, such as Sanskrit मरकत (marakata) and Ancient Greek σμάραγδος (smáragdos), the latter ultimately the source of English emerald.
