  1. A hybrid sport in which participants travel along a canyon using a variety of techniques that may include walking, climbing, jumping, abseiling, or swimming.

Usage notes[edit]

Although canyon may occasionally be used as a verb in this context, it is much more common to speak of “going canyoning.”
