Etymology[edit]

From Hindi चड्डी (caḍḍī). The usage for members of the RSS is derived from the khaki shorts in their uniforms.

  1. (India) Underwear, shorts, especially knickers.
  2. (India) Male or female underpants.
  3. (India, Indian politics, derogatory, slang) A supporter of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a Hindu nationalist paramilitary volunteer organisation; by extension, a member of any Hindu nationalist party. (Can we add an example for this sense?)
