Etymology[edit]

Chang'e +‎ -s- +‎ -ite. Named after Chinese goddess Chang'e (the moon goddess). Named for the Chang'e program, the Chinese lunar landers which discovered the minerals. From Mandarin Cháng'é (ㄔㄤˊ ㄜˊ) (Ch‘ang22), from Chinese 嫦娥 (Cháng'é).
