Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Malay cucuk,[2] pronounced /t͡ʃuˈt͡ʃuʔ/ in Malay. Compare modern Malay mencucuk (“to poke”), Indonesian cocok (“prick; small pointed object”). Doublet of chúcho.
