- (transitive) to blow someone's cover, to expose
- El zicea că e din București, dar accentul l-a dat de gol.
- He said he was from Bucharest, but his accent blew his cover.
- (reflexive) to blow one's own cover, to get exposed
- Credeam că voi putea copia la test, dar am avut emoții și m-am dat de gol.
- I thought that I would be able to cheat on the test, but I was nervous and blew my cover.
